mapa mundi
O primeiro mapa da Terra redonda. The first new map of the world which incorporated the word 'America' as well as the first ever printed portrayal of the Earth as a globe, the first time the Pacific Ocean had been shown and the first time the continents of North and South America had been individually distinguished, went on show at Christies, King Street in London, Tuesday 07 June 2005.The printed map which was produced by Martin Waldeseemuller in 1507 is expected to fetch between £500,000 and £800,000 when it goes for auction in Christie`s sale of Imortant Maps, Atlases and Globes on 08 June 2005.
